Below are the answers to frequently asked questions. Is your question not included? Please feel free to contact us!
No. The Quoco must be completely cooled before inserting the Coperchio or Copertina. At high temperatures, these accessories can melt or be damaged, which can cause dangerous situations. Therefore, always wait until the device is cold to the touch.
The hot plate can reach temperatures up to 300 degrees Celsius. Be careful and use heat-resistant gloves.
On average, it takes 15-20 minutes in summer and 20-30 minutes in winter for the cooktop to heat up properly.
Build a wigwam out of dry wood or charcoal, place firelighters in the middle and light them. Let the fire burn well before cooking.
Yes, but use it in moderation. Tropical hardwood can get very hot and warp the cooktop.
Due to the weight of the parts, it is recommended to do this with at least 2 people (even 4 people for the XL version).
No, the unit is intended for outdoor use only. Indoor use can lead to dangerous fumes and carbon monoxide poisoning.
The slide at the bottom can be used to release the ash or to add air to the bowl. Please note that glowing particles can fall out when the drawer is open. When it is open, make sure there is no wood underneath. This is to prevent the stored wood from burning or smouldering.
The first time, the plate should be burned with a food grade oil to make cooking easy and protect it from the elements. When the Quoco Piatto is not in use, a small drop of oil should be applied to the plate to protect it from the elements.
Sure. Our maintenance spray is available separately through your dealer or directly through Quoco. Please contact us for options.
This often occurs because a wet object, ash or acidic material has been lying on that spot. Rust can also spread through moisture, so prompt treatment prevents expansion.
No, only on the plancha is oil desired. Not on the pedestal, oil can interfere with the natural process. For black pedestals always use an original Quoco restorative lacquer.
It depends on the material.
Yes, ash can be harmful to corten steel - especially if it gets wet. Wet ash can contain acids and salts that attack the protective rust layer of corten steel. This can eventually lead to accelerated corrosion or staining, especially in the bottom of the bowl or between bowl and base.
To avoid this:
Regular cleaning prevents accumulation of damp ash and preserves the beautiful, natural look of the Corten steel.
Is there water in the bowl? If so, the water may not be able to leave through the air supply at the bottom. Therefore, check the following:
Always clean the bowl after use and make sure no ash remains between bowl and base. Check this only when the entire appliance has completely cooled down. To do this, remove both the plancha and platter.
Remove ashes from the Quoco bowl after each use. Do not leave ash residue for long periods of time, especially if it gets wet. Wet ashes can turn into an acidic "mush," which in time corrodes the material of the bowl. So clean and dry the bowl after use to prevent acidification and rusting.
Allow the plate to cool completely. Scrape away food residue with a spatula and rub the plate with oil. If rust forms: scrape carefully and repeat the oiling process.
Use a soft cloth or sponge with water and mild detergent. Avoid aggressive cleaners that can damage the paint.Use a soft cloth or sponge with water and mild detergent. Avoid aggressive cleaners that can damage the paintwork.
Wet ash forms an acidic mixture that corrodes steel and accelerates rusting. This acid can leak onto the base and cause corrosion there.
No, only the hob is oiled in. The bowl does not need to be oiled, but keep it clean and free of ash residue.
Allow the plate to cool completely. Small deformations often recover on their own with the next heating. If the problem persists, contact your dealer.
Use a soft sponge or cloth with water and mild detergent. For anthracite-coated models, a special maintenance sponge or heat-resistant spray paint can help.
No, do not use a pressure washer. This can damage the coating or steel and spray water into cracks, causing rust to form more quickly.
Remove ash immediately after use, allow the bowl to dry completely and only then cover it. Store the Quoco preferably dry and not in a salty environment.
Yes, with long-term rusting, the shell may leak small amounts of moisture and rust water, especially if the rust breaks through from the inside.
Corrosion usually occurs because moist ash is not completely removed after use. This ash, combined with moisture (for example, from rain or a still-warm shell), can form an acidic mixture that attacks the material and causes corrosion.
Cleaning the Quoco Piatto can be done in a few minutes with a (Quoco) spatula, kitchen paper, water and a little oil. After using the product, you take the spatula and push everything into the fire that was left behind. You take a piece of wet kitchen paper and clean the plate again. The plate can be hot, so be careful! Put some more oil on the kitchen paper and rub it all over the plancha. Your Quoco Piatto is now nice and clean.
The ring can be used to clear ash residue or control air supply. Watch for glowing residue when it is open.
With a Quoco Piatto, you receive the base, bowl and cooking plate (plancha).
Yes, a grill rack is available for additional grilling capabilities. Place the grid stably on the tray and supervise during use.
The ring protects against heat and provides a safe zone around the cooktop. Oil it regularly to prevent drying out.
Yes, such as a cutting board, safety ring, grill rack and the Sordo lid. Ask your dealer about the range.
You can register your Quoco through the warranty page.
This varies by product and can be found in our manual.
No, rusting due to moisture or ash left behind is not covered under warranty. Manufacturing defects are covered under warranty provided proper use and maintenance.
Yes, the Sordo lid can be used to shield the flames, but the fire should extinguish on its own for maximum safety.
Make sure the unit is on a hard, flat and well-draining surface and remove dirt regularly.
Yes, especially the Piatto Tavolo model is suitable for that when the fire is not burning.
Preferably not. Because of the weight and construction, moving can cause damage.
Yes, but pay close attention to moisture and rust. Cover the device with a cover or put it in a dry place.
Not necessarily, but oil or food residue can stain. You can place a wooden or metal plate under the Quoco for protection.
You can, but we do not recommend this. Because the Copertina is flexible, when it rains, a puddle can form at the location of the central hole in the plancha. This can deform or damage the cover.
Advice: first place the quenching lid over the hole in the plancha. Then pull the Copertina over the plancha. The button on the doffing lid causes the cover to rise slightly, allowing water to drain neatly and preventing water build-up.
To do this, use our Coperchio - a specially designed lid that completely seals the plancha, preventing rainwater from running into the bowl.
An alternative is the Copertina, our cover sleeve, which also provides protection against water.
Please note that a quench lid or any other product is not suitable for covering the plancha. These do not seal properly and do not provide sufficient protection against moisture.

Usually 6 to 12 months after delivery (corten steel). This is a natural process.
The base is corten steel and the hob is carbon steel. Anthracite models are lacquered.
The cooktop should be oiled to protect and create a good non-stick coating.
Use a heat-resistant spray paint to touch up damage (available through the Quoco dealer).
These can cause scratches or rust spots.
Grease or moisture may drip from the bowl during use. Place the Quoco on a suitable surface.
Yes, all three can be used.
Allow the ash to cool completely, moisten and then throw it in the trash.
After each session when used regularly, otherwise at least every 15-30 days depending on climate.
The pedestal has adjustable legs and prevents direct contact with the ground, but oil or food residue can still splash.
You can use it all, but it is not necessary. Of course, you can use it if you like. We do recommend, however, that you go for a briquette grill if you want to use briquettes, so that the airflow is optimised.
